So that all may Flourish...

God is at work in our city. The number of churches have doubled in the past three decades throughout Greater Boston, what sociologists and urban researchers are calling a "quiet revival". Most of these new churches are multi-ethnic and immigrant churches, which highlight Boston's increasing diversity. However, the work is not yet done. There are many people and places throughout Boston that are still broken and in need of the hope found in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Therefore, we are compelled to join God's ongoing work in the city by making followers of Jesus for the flourishing of the city.

Jamaica Plain

Boston is a city that is defined by its neighborhoods. Jamaica Plain (JP) has a population of 55,000, sits just a couple of miles south of center city, and is an invaluable part of Boston proper. Despite JP’s urban density, its rich landscape, part of what is locally known as The Emerald Necklace, stretches throughout the neighborhood with public parks, ponds, and urban gardens.

JP is one of the most diverse communities in Boston - racially, socioeconomically, and generationally. JP also has a deep history of social and cultural activism, as well as public policy.

As a disproportionately unchurched neighborhood, our church plant will cultivate agents of grace and mercy in a city defined by what they can do for the world. We will point Jamaica Plain to the truth of the gospel, that all of their deepest longings are satisfied and their burdens lifted in the person and work of Jesus Christ.
